Creating a Positive Play Environment: At our league, we take pride in fostering a positive and encouraging environment for young athletes to learn, develop skills, and most importantly, have fun. This environment relies on good sportsmanship from not only our players, but also from the parents and spectators who come to cheer them on.
Expectations for a Positive Experience:
• Focus on Encouragement: We ask that you use positive language to cheer on your child and their team. Focus on effort, improvement, and teamwork, rather than wins or losses.
• Respect the Officials: Officials are here to ensure a fair game for all. Disagreements are part of the game, but please voice them calmly and
respectfully to coaches or league officials, not in front of players or referees.
• Leave the Coaching to the Coaches: While enthusiastic support is encouraged, please refrain from offering unsolicited coaching advice or critiques from the sidelines. This can be confusing for players and undermine team efforts.
• Be a Gracious Winner and Loser: Celebrate victories with enthusiasm but remember to be humble. In defeat, teach your child to accept the outcome with dignity and learn from the experience.
• Zero Tolerance for Abusive Behavior: There will be no tolerance for yelling, insults, or abusive language directed towards players, coaches, officials, or other spectators. This creates a hostile environment and detracts from the enjoyment of the game for everyone. Consequences of Unsportsmanlike Conduct: We understand that emotions can run high during games. However, persistent unsportsmanlike behavior from parents or spectators will not be tolerated.
This may include:
• Verbal warnings: A league representative will approach the spectator and remind them of the sportsmanship policy.
• Removal from the game: If the behavior continues, the spectator may be required to leave the field for the remainder of the game.
• Potential future game suspensions: In cases of severe or repeated violations, spectators may be suspended from attending future games.
Working Together for a Positive Experience: By working together, we can create a positive and supportive environment where young athletes can learn valuable life lessons and develop a love for sports. We appreciate your cooperation in making our league a fun and rewarding experience for all.
