Copy of Offense ReportsWe do release copies of offense reports however; we will provide only a summary to the victims/complaints and the insurance company.
Door to Door Solicitor Permits for CountyYou must fill out an application at the Sheriff’s Office.
You will need to bring an acceptable form of ID.
A criminal history check will be completed.
If approved, by the Sheriff’s Office
You will need to pay the Smyth County Treasurer a $20 fee. This permit is valid for one (1) week.
Concealed Weapon PermitsPick up your application at the office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court or click on the following links online:

Take your completed application and $15 fee, with your proof of training for new applications to the Clerk of the Circuit Court.
A criminal history check and driver's transcript will be run by the Sheriff’s Office at the request of the Clerk. The permit will be issued if approved by the Judge.

When are fingerprints taken?Monday through Friday
9:00 AM to 12:00 noon and 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM
What information is required?Two forms of identification are required:
One form of identification must be a photo identification such as a driver’s license, DMV ID card or a passport.
The other form of ID can be a registration card, military card, voter card, employer identification card or school ID card.
Smyth County residents are fingerprinted FREE.
Any nonresident of Smyth County, who needs to be fingerprinted for non-criminal purposes must first go to the Smyth County Treasurer’s Office located in the courthouse between the hours of 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM Monday through Friday. Nonresidents must pay a fee to be fingerprinted. There is a $10.00 fee for the first card and $5.00 for each additional card for nonresidents. No personal checks will be accepted. Cash or credit cards only. Once the fee has been paid to the Smyth County Treasurer's Office, the individual will be given a receipt and will report to the Sheriff’s Office to be fingerprinted.
