Job Summary:
The 911 Dispatcher is responsible for receiving and prioritizing all emergency and non-emergency requests for service and for dispatching appropriate First Responders for these calls. This position is of critical importance and involves the use of computer technology, requiring a high level of accuracy, concentration, attention to detail, and multi-tasking. The position requires the ability to make critical decisions under high stress situations and given scripted medical guidance when called to do so. Must be able to work within a team environment.
Essential Duties:
Receives and processes all incoming 911 and non-emergency telephone calls and dispatches emergency and non-emergency calls for multiple Law Enforcement Departments, Fire Departments, and Emergency Medical Services providers.
Must be able to listen to emergency and non-emergency calls and type at the same time. Must be able to type minimum 30 WPM. Must be able to give scripted medical guidance when situation dictates.
Uses a computer aided dispatch (CAD) system to create and maintain electronic records and logs of activity. Uses various computer systems to monitor calls, access information and enter information as required. Receives, transmits, and monitors multiple radio channels on a county/regional radio system.
Requests, receives, and disseminates large amounts of public, private, and confidential data linked to state, federal, and local law enforcement systems through computerized terminals including driver and motor vehicle checks, stolen property checks, missing persons, criminal histories, and other restricted data files.
Employment Information:
Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
Must be able to pass a detailed background check.
May be required to work beyond normal work schedule.
Starting salary is $33,363 plus $4,000 bonus once certified.
Work Schedule will be a 12-hour 6:00 pm to 6:00 am night shift with approximately 15/16 workdays per month.
